If the outlet is deep, permit the patch to dry, sand calmly with 120-grit sandpaper, and reapply spackling compound.
Permit the textured compound to dry according to the manufacturer’s directions, then prime and paint the surface. Use the sanding pad within the primer kit to smooth and buff the spackling compound. Cover the patch and tape with joint compound, feathering the edges.
Fastidiously sand the dried compound, using a drywall sanding block or increasingly finer grits or sandpaper. First, reduce a chunk of drywall that is slightly bigger than the outlet you are attempting to restore. Maintain the square over the hole within the drywall and trace around the edges.
